Recording

If you’ve listened to our self-titled debut album, then you may have noticed a certain lo-fi vintage sound that it has. This is because it was recorded on old tape recording equipment in our living room home studio. Tape is something that I love, know a good amount about and want to help other interested musicians record with.

Intentionally recording on old, lo-fi, outdated equipment isn’t a new thing. Many other musicians have done the same thing ever since digital has become the mainstream method of recording music.

The reason? I personally believe that when you’re not distracted by hi-fi audio recording standards, it’s much easier to focus on writing and recording great music. Imperfections are an important part of what makes a song great and are mostly fading away in today’s music. Lo-fi equipment such as the Tascam PortaStudio multi-track cassette recorder gives a certain sound to music that I don’t believe you can get any other way.

Our home studio is located in Kingston, ON, Canada. It's still a work in progress, but eventually I want to have a unique place stocked with old gear where musicians can come to get this type of sound as well.

We also offer help with album artwork design and video production. So if you live in the Kingston area and are interested, fill out the form below and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!
